FACT SHEET

* ACES is a not-for-profit organisation governed by its Chairman Dr. Richard Helfer and its Board of Directors, supported by a management team led by Lyndon Yeo
 
* ACES serves as a cultural and creative intermediary within Asia, and aims to be a resource and agent of change in the realm of international exchange of the arts, culture and heritage industries through the following roles:

a. Aggregator of current knowledge on contemporary practices, trends, policies, personalities, relevant agencies and network, in the arts, culture and heritage industries across Southeast Asia and eventually greater Asia.
b. Creation of new works that will be incubated and developed in Singapore or with Singapore inspiration as its artistic or managerial catalyst for the markets in Asia and beyond.
c. Facilitate exchange platforms between artists or designers from Asia and the West, leading to collaborative works and exhibitions in both markets.

* ACES seeks to draw the business community to become a staunch supporter of artistic projects through the business component of Spotlight Singapore, inherited from its parent company, The Old Parliament House (now known as the Arts House at the Old Parliament).

* ACES is also a platform for fostering business-to-business relations. It organises local and regional business networking programmes and breakfast talks.  It hosted a breakfast dialogue on 11 March with the South African High Commissioner to Singapore who presented a talk on the potentials of building economic bridges between Singapore and South Africa.

* ACES Research & Intelligence division aims to aggregate, catalogue and maintain a database of the arts and culture of Southeast Asia, in particular the performing and visual arts and their artists, artistes and practitioners. The Research Division will also provide a fertile resource that can be leveraged for the provision of consultancy services and commissioned reports.

* Through its online regional exchange platform, SPACES (www.spaces.org.sg), ACES serves as a research and information hub on the regional creative industries’ contemporary practices, trends, policies, personalities, relevant agencies and network.

* ACES will inaugurate a series of annual reports about the state of the arts in the ASEAN states. These reports, which will be updated yearly, will provide a wide overview of the arts and culture scenes in these countries, as well as the role governments and other organizations play in the promotion of the arts. These reports also offer up to date information on the most important events, initiatives and individuals in the industry.

*ACES also serves as a market intelligence provider that helps local arts organisation and practitioners manage their brands and develop their marketing strategies. Currently, ACES is working iwth Inward Boun to market its drama workshops to UNICEF, Indonesia; and OneStoneBooks to promote West Papua Art in Singapore and regionally.


* ACES is an investing partner of Asia-On-Stage Pte Ltd, which is commissioning its first musical production, DragonTales that originated from a 1996 animated cartoon series aired in Hong Kong.  DragonTales will be developed and staged in Manila by the third quarter of 2010.

* ACES has successfully brokered partnerships to fund a local concert performance by Richard Poon. Richard Poon, who aims to present his music to audiences worldwide, is Philippine’s multi-award platinum singer-songwriter who won Best New Recording Artist, 2008 and Breakthrough Artist of the Year, 2009.
