If you love the grace and spirit of the 1966 film Born Free, come experience contemporary Chinese ink paintings by Singaporean artist Terence Teo Chin Keong and his version of being born free.
In his recent series The Colour of Rain Forests, Terence’s focus on rainforests as subject matter is a tribute to his love for nature. Drawing inspiration from his experience of nature in all the richness of the seasons abroad and from his walks through Singapore’s urban landscape, Terence asserts his conceptual focus on the beauty of nature in this series of works, sharing with his audience the simple pleasures that can be derived from appreciating the greenery around one.
Blessed with tremendous skill and technique honed over many years of experience, Terence demonstrates mastery of Chinese ink painting and composition, presenting exquisite details through bold, refreshing, and spontaneous brushstrokes in his works. This series of paintings not only transcend time and place but also promote a sense of harmony and illustrate the artist’s aesthetic appreciation of rainforest and nature.
As a self-assured yet humble contemporary artist with deep Asian roots, Terence confidently challenges techniques of Chinese ink painting through the interplay of the elements of traditional Chinese and modern art, thus resulting in works that are unique and timeless.
The Colour of the Rainforest invites the viewer to embrace the rich experiences and passions that are embedded in Terence’s paintings, while appreciating his encounters with nature that are the genesis of his inspiration.
